Community Coach
James Cummings has been with us since 2019 as a community coach working throughout our schools programme, weekly skills academy, camps and tours.
James won a scholarship to play basketball in Italy at the tender age of 14, whilst on a tour with founder company Russell Hoops, and celebrated huge playing success at his Division 2 Italian Club. As a result of his time spent abroad James is fluent in Italian. On his return to the UK James signed for a spell at Oaklands Wolves and used his considerable experience with an additional term playing for Herts & Essex Leopards before suffering a ruptured ACL.
James started coaching at a club level with Stevenage Royals progressing quickly to become their vice chairman and coach of their under 16’s, under 18’s and senior mens local league teams as well as introducing a division 2 ladies team. He has been a key part of the growth and expansion of the Club. In 2023, James continued his professional development taking his first major role within the Hertfordshire county set up leading the U17 men at their inter county tournament in Norwich.
James has been a key part of the growth and development of the Ace Sports+ coaching programme over the past 4 years both as a community coach and with our successful and sought-after international tours. He remains a popular and well loved coach throughout our programme.
